Button - (BTN)

The phrase button refers to the dealer button in a poker game. The button, written shorthanded as BTN, is tagged to the person who is designated as the dealer for individual hands. The button moves clockwise around the table after each hand has finished. In Texas Hold'em tournaments, the button is the person last to act on every street, pre-flop, turn and river.

The button is the most powerful position in a poker game, because the button has the opportunity to see the action of his opponents before he acts. This positional advantage remains throughout the hand. Players tend to raise a much wider range of hands in later positions, as there are less players to act afterwards. For this reason the button position has a higher pre-flop raise frequency than any other poker position.
